I’ve waited nearly nine years to say this: The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant is now on audio! Wow, I’ve gotta let that sink in for a few moments…
For those of you who are new to Stephen R. Donaldson’s masterpiece of epic fantasy, the Covenant saga has long been my favorite work of fiction, ever since first discovering it in the mid ‘80s while I was a student at UCLA. For those of you who’ve never heard the story, you can read more about my love of the series here.
My passion for the Covenant saga is so huge that in 2007 I acquired the audio rights, and created my own audio publishing imprint, just to make the books available to my fellow Covenant fans. Publishing the First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (as well as Fatal Revenant, the seventh book in the ten-volume series) was a major highlight in my career, and I was delighted by the way fans received them—there was a near-instantaneous chorus of, “When will the Second Chronicles be available?”
Sadly, my plan to acquire and release the second trilogy was derailed by my cancer diagnosis and my need to regain my health. But, throughout all of it, I dreamed of one day releasing the Second Chronicles.
That day is finally here.
I dedicate today and this next installment of the series to those of you who’ve contacted me over the years to ask about the second trilogy’s status. I thank you all for your enthusiasm.
To Stephen R. Donaldson, I thank you for your unfailing support and understanding, as things took drastically longer than expected. And to you, loyal listeners, I thank you for your patience. It’s been a long road to
this day, but I’m happy and healthy, and more eager than ever to bring you great stories.
Purchase the first volume of the trilogy, The Wounded Land, or pre-order the full trilogy. The One Tree and White Gold Wielder will be released on October 1st and December 1st, 2016, respectively. Yep, that’s right, the trilogy will be complete in time for Christmas! And even better, I have many more titles in the queue for the months and years ahead. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoyed recording them. Have a favorite story that you’d love to hear on audio? Then please leave a comment below, and I will do my very best to make it a reality.
But in the meantime, thank you so much. I wouldn’t be able to bring these books to life if it weren’t for your support. I am eternally grateful.
Thank you for listening,
Scott Brick
